BACKGROUND

Birgitta first studied humanities at the Universities of Lund and Stockholm and graduated with a Master of Arts. This was followed by journeys to Moscow and the Middle East. Then she decided to get serious with painting.

Her training started at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest, the Grigorescu Institute, to be continued a year later at the University College of Fine Arts and Design in Stockholm, where she graduated.

During her fine arts studies in Stockholm she worked weekends preparing to become a museum educator in the studios at the Museum of Modern Art. After a long period abroad she returned to work at the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm. In recent years she has followed a couple of university courses on Visual Art and Ecology.

The artist has always combined her own art exhibitions with art consultancy and art communication in Sweden, Indonesia, Kenya, America, Latvia, Uganda and Poland.

Today she is based in her studio gallery Estesio in Beddingestrand, close to the southernmost tip of Sweden, where she continues her multi faceted and multi cultural works as an artist, art communicator, curator, designer, illustrator, lecturer, speaker, author...... :
